... The
leap day was introduced
as part of the Julian
reform. The day
following the Terminalia
(February 23) was
doubled, forming the 'bis
sextum - literally
'double sixth', since
February 24 was 'the
sixth day before the
Kalends of March' using
Roman inclusive counting
(March 1 was the 'first
day').
Although
exceptions exist, the
first day of the bis
sextum (February 24)
was usually regarded as
the intercalated or
'bissextile' day since
the third century.
February 29 came to be
regarded as the leap day
when the Roman system of
numbering days was
replaced by sequential
numbering in the late
Middle Ages ...
The
double marama
glyph in Cb13-16 could
represent the pair of
bis sextum days in
the Julian calendar. Above I have counted with Cb13-16 as a leap
night - jumping over it with no stars (or RA day
number) assigned
at this glyph. It means the difference between
glyph number and RA day number changes (but
only for the heliacal side):

My intuition told me Matar
('life in death') should be at the figure in Cb13-20 (where 13 *
20 = 260).
I think there could have
been kava
ceremonies in the first day after a leap
day. And possibly both the Lacerta figure
and the kava glyph type were
influenced by the idea of a bolt alighting
from above:
|
kava |
The pair
of 1100 Lacerta stars,
rising with the Sun in
Terminalia respectively
in Bissextum could refer
to a break in time into
2 pieces.
... For

the sacred offering, he

intoxication Fijians
call 'dead from' (mateni)
or 'dead from kava'
(mate ni yaqona),
to recover from which is
explicitly 'to live' (bula). This
accounts for the second
cup the chief is alone
accorded, the cup of
fresh water. The god is
immediately revived,
brought again to life -
in a transformed state
