Castor and
Pollux
ought to be present also in the
C text and I decide to cover the
ground between Sirius (June 30)
and Naos (July 20). Metoro's
erua tamaiti could refer to
Gemini.
I will below redpaint
the names of the Gemini stars:

Muliphein
and Wezen are stars in
Canis Major (γ
respectively δ), and
both Ca5-1 and Ca5-2
appear to indicate a
'break' in time. 107 =
472 - 365. And not until
July 10 with Aludra (η
Canis Majoris, the last
star assigned a Greek
letter in the
constellation) seems the
influence of Sirius to
abate.
With the
beginning of the Heka
manzil there arrives a
pattern of reflection.
Te mago erua (the
sharks, two of them)
becomes erua mago

corresponding to te mago
erua the following
pair is te hokohuki

Pollux,

the last of the major

(I have not so far
listed the very last
stars
π, φ, and χ) and the first
star to rise in Gemini is Tejat

It
seems probable
Gemini 'makes itself
felt' already in
June 22, the day
after the solstice. The pair of
hau tea
glyphs are identical
and together and
between them they
indicate manzil day
403 (possibly
alluding to Sirius
because 63 + 403 -
365 = 101, the
number of its
RA-day). Therefore κ
Aurigae (Ca4-18) and
Sirius a week later
could together mark
the 'door' to
Gemini.
In
Ca4-18 the 'Tree' (rakau)
is at left and
inserted into a
henua, which
grows from a
'winter' shape (a cup
line at bottom) to a
straight 'land'
shape at the top.
Gemini once marked
the arrival of
spring:
... Men's spirits
were thought to
dwell in the Milky
Way between
incarnations. This
conception has been
handed down as an
Orphic and
Pythagorean
tradition fitting
into the frame of
the migration of the
soul. Macrobius, who
has provided the
broadest report on
the matter, has it
that souls ascend by
way of Capricorn,
and then, in order
to be reborn,
descend again
through the 'Gate of
Cancer'. Macrobius
talks of signs;
the constellations
rising at the
solstices in his
time (and still in
ours) were Gemini
and Sagittarius: the
'Gate of Cancer'
means Gemini. In
fact, he states
explicitly (I,12.5)
that this 'Gate' is
'where the Zodiac
and the Milky Way
intersect' ...
Today the
intersection moved
to
6h, which on Easter
Island coincided with
winter solstice:
