When the single great Sun has gone down the multiple stars instead appear, like the many suns in the tail of the Peacock. Maybe Sun now was travelling under Earth, in a state of 'below' (i raro). The model was day and night and day and night etc forever. This cyclic pattern could be extended and used also for other similar phenomena, such as the succession of winters and summers. When Sun moved through the Night he could not be seen, but the daytime blue sky suggested he was going by boat.
The more or less horizontal canoe could be contrasted with the not quite vertical paddle which went in a cyclic pattern of ups and downs, sometimes immersed in the sea and sometimes in the air above the water. If once the sky was mapped with such an idea as a basic structure, then the onset of northern winter would have corresponded to the time when the great dancing paddle was going down into the water. Maybe this time was autumn equinox. Since then precession has moved the sky roof ahead in the year. Once 'Sea' (winter) may have followed after Nunki had risen with the Sun. Nowadays its heliacal rising comes early in January, although the Sea in the sky can still be seen in the same place. ... This [σ] has been identified with Nunki of the Euphratean Tablet of the Thirty Stars, the Star of the Proclamation of the Sea, this Sea being the quarter occupied by Aquarius, Capricornus, Delphinus, Pisces, and Pisces Australis. It is the same space in the sky that Aratos designated as Water ... "In India it marked the junction of the nakshatra Ashādā with Abhijit. It lies on the vane of the arrow in the Archer's hand. σ, with ζ and π, may have been the Akkadian Gu-shi-rab-ba, the Yoke of the Sea." (Allen) When the Explorers went over the 'Sea' it took them ca 35 days according to Manuscript E. Supposing the beginning of 'Sea' had moved ahead in the year but its end had stayed fixed to the behaviour of Sun, then the Explorers may have arrived to 'Land' much quicker than once was possible. Counting ahead 35 days from January 4 leads to February 8 (39). But maybe we should count the 'Sea Voyage' as the 'end quarter' of the Old Year. 39 + 365 = 404.
When Nunki rose with Sun there were only 4 nights before Wasat (δ Gemini) descended with Moon. (I guess we should say 'descended' because Moon is very much the opposite of Sun.) Shaula 5 (236) corresponded to RA day 292 and on Easter Island it was high summer. Metoro said manu rere (living spirit) and the wings are visualizing expansion (expanded wings).
