4. We had better also to consider ε Orionis (Alnilam):

... Its Tuamotuan equivalent Faka-iti is a star in Orion, probably Epsilon ...

At Parehe I have commented upon the similarities in structure between the stars in the Pleiades and the stars in Orion:

... The similarity between the main stars in the Orion constellation and the 3 + 0 + 3 stones in the Pleiades is striking, once you have noticed it:

In Orion there are also 2 oppositely oriented triads of stars, like legs:

Pleiades
'knee' to the right Atlas Alcyone Merope
'knee' to the left Taygeta Maia Electra
Orion
'knee' to the right Betelgeuse Alnitak Saiph
'knee' to the left Bellatrix Mintaka Rigel

But in Orion there is no missing star between the 'knees', because there lies Alnilam:

'Alnilam, Anilam, Ainilam, and Alnihan are from Al Nithām, or Al Nathm, the String of Pearls, or, as Recorde said, the Bullions set in the middle of Orion's Belt.

It portended fleeting public honors to those born under its influence. The spectrum is Sirian, and the star recedes from us at the rate of about 16˝ miles a second. It is the central one of the Belt, culminating on the 25th of January.' (Allen)

'Bullion ... precious metal in the mass ... Rom. *bulliōnem boiling, f. L. bullīre boil ...' (English Etymology)

It makes sense. If fire (Sun) comes in contact with water the result will be boiling. The Belt of Orion and the Mayan turtle lie at the celestial equator, where 'sea' adjoins 'land'. Boiling causes everything to churn around and what is at bottom will suddenly be on the surface (one of the few instances when the force of gravitation is overruled) ...

At The Mouth of the Fish I pointed out how raindrops can be as precious as pearls:

... 'Pearls' could also be associated with the horizontal 'beam' of time between the equinoxes, because at the horizon in the east new lights emerge, are born from Mother Earth - who then can be compared to a Mother-of-Pearl:

Kaukau

1. Horizontal poles of a frame (of a hare paega, or a paina statue): he-hakatu'u te tama o te paina, he-kaukau, they erect the vertical poles of the paina then they lay upon them the horizontal ones. 2. Group of people: e-tahi tuitui reipá i Te Pei, ekó rava'a e-varu kaukau; i-garo ai i Hiva, i te kaiga, a necklace of mother-of-pearl is on te Pei, few will find it (lit: eight groups of people); it has remained in Hiva, in our homeland. 3. To go through, to pass through in unison; he-hogi-mai te űka i te e'eo o te pua kaukau-á i roto ite hare, the girl smelt the fragrance of the pua wafting inside the house. 4. Newborn baby's first hand and feet movements (kaukau or kau). The five stages of a baby's development are: kaukau, puepe, tahuri, totoro, mahaga. Puepue = said of a newborn baby when, a few weeks old, it begins to distinguish people and objects: ku-puepue-á te poki. Tahuri = of a new-born baby, to move from side to side: ku-tahuri-á te poki. Totoro = to crawl; ki totoro te poki, when the baby crawls. Mahaga = baby when able to stand by itself. Vanaga.

'Nacre appears iridescent because the thickness of the aragonite platelets is close to the wavelength of visible light. This results in constructive and destructive interference of different wavelengths of light, resulting in different colors of light being reflected at different viewing angles.' (Wikipedia)

Alnilam should be located about 20 glyphs from the beginning of the text:
