2. The head of the Ram is immediately above the last part of Pisces, viz. the 'knot' (Alrisha), and her first horn ('point') is defined by γ and β:

She is resting on the ecliptic with her legs below the line (excepting her front left leg where half is 'on land'). But she is also resting on the head of Cetus, as if being pushed up from the deep by this 'monster'.

Sheratan is brighter than Mesarthim and the only star in the neighbourhood which will be precisely at a day number (28), if the months are counted as 30 days long, and therefore it would be the perfect announcer of the arrival of spring (north of the equator).

But today precession has moved the star too far ahead towards summer, and if I for instance count from spring equinox this year (2012) Sheratan will rise heliacally in April:

The current right ascension for Sheratan is 01h 54m 38.35s (according to Wikipedia), which means 29.08 days beyond spring equinox. With spring equinox at March 20 the date of rising will be April 18.

Lambs are normally born earlier. Yet, the old structure cannot be altered, it is too marvellously significant. The main sign in Gb7-26 is the hua (offspring) in front, drawn like the sack in which a lamb is delivered).
