The position 27 + 6 = 33 days after the end of the year was where Father Light (Ius Piter) disappeared from view, went down into the Underworld:

398 = 365 + 33

... in the ceremonial course of the coming year, the king is symbolically transposed toward the Lono pole of Hawaiian divinity ... It need only be noticed that the renewal of kingship at the climax of the Makahiki coincides with the rebirth of nature. For in the ideal ritual calendar, the kali'i battle follows the autumnal appearance of the Pleiades, by thirty-three [33] days - thus precisely, in the late eighteenth century, 21 December, the winter solstice. The king returns to power with the sun. Whereas, over the next two days, Lono plays the part of the sacrifice. The Makahiki effigy is dismantled and hidden away in a rite watched over by the king's 'living god', Kahoali'i or 'The-Companion-of-the-King', the one who is also known as 'Death-is-Near' (Koke-na-make). Close kinsman of the king as his ceremonial double, Kahoali'i swallows the eye of the victim in ceremonies of human sacrifice ...

... The worship of the Divine Child was established in Minoan Crete, its most famous early home in Europe. In 1903, on the site of the temple of Dictaean Zeues - the Zeus who was yearly born in Rhea's cave at Dicte near Cnossos, where Pythagoras spent 'thrice nine hallowed days' of his initiation - was found a Greek hymn which seems to preserve the original Minoan formula in which the gypsum-powdered, sword-dancing Curetes, or tutors, saluted the Child at his birthday feast. In it he is hailed as 'the Cronian one' who comes yearly to Dicte mounted on a sow and escorted by a spirit-throng, and begged for peace and plenty as a reward for their joyful leaps. The tradition preserved by Hyginus in his Poetic Astronomy that the constellation Capricorn ('He-goat') was Zeus's foster-brother Aegipan, the Kid of the Goat Amalthea whose horn Zeus also placed among the stars, shows that Zeus was born at mid-winter when the Sun entered the house of Capricorn ...

... As has already been mentioned, the Delphians worshipped Dionysus once a year as the new-born child, Liknites, 'the Child in the Harvest Basket', which was a shovel-shaped basket of rush and osier used as a harvest basket, a cradle, a manger, and a winnowing-fan for tossing the grain up into the air against the wind, to separate it from the chaff ...

... The date is confirmed by the alternative version of the myth, that he was suckled by a sow - evidently the one on whose back he yearly rode into Dicte - since in Egypt swine's flesh and milk were permitted food only at the mid-winter festival. That the Sun-gods Dionysus, Apollo and Mithras were all also reputedly born at the Winter solstice is well known, and the Christian Church first fixed the Nativity feast of Jesus Christ at the same season, in the year A.D. 273 ...

In our calendar day number 273 (= 7 * 39) coincides with the last day of September (the 7th month):

January 31 31
February 28 59
March 31 90
April 30 120

... St. Chrysostom, a century later, said that the intention was that 'while the heathen were busied with their profane rites the Christians might perform their holy ones without disturbance', but justified the date as suitable for one who was 'the Sun of Righteousness'. Another confirmation of the date is that Zeus was the son of Cronos, whom we have securely identified with Fearn, or Bran, the god of the F month in the Beth-Luis-Nion. If one reckons back 280 days from the Winter Solstice, that is to say ten months of the Beth-Luis-Nion calendar, the normal period of human gestation, one comes to the first day of Fearn. (Similarly, reckoning 280 days forward from the Winter Solstice, one comes to the first day of the G month, Gore, sacred to Dionysus; Dionysus the vine and ivy-god, as opposed to the Sun-god, was son to Zeus.) Cuchulain was born as the result of his mother's swallowing a may-fly; but in Ireland may-flies often appear in late March, so his birthday was probably the same ...

May-flies often appeared late in March, and 84 (March 25, 3-25 as in the year for the Council of Nicaea) + 61 = 145 = 290 / 2 (May 25, 5-25).

Above the tropical belt, as on Hawaii, the birth of a new Sun after the winter solstice was the main event of the year, but there were probably also other important cardinal points, primarily spring equinox (at the horizon in the east) and autumn equinox (at the horizon in the west).

... Rehua has been variously identified with Jupiter by Tregear, with Sirius by Stowell, and with Antares by Best, and there can be no doubt that the name was applied to different objects in various sections of New Zealand.

An old native declared: 'Rehua is a star, a bird with two wings; one wing is broken. Under the unbroken wing is Te Waa-o-Tamarereti (the Canoe of Tamarereti is the Tail of Scorpius in this instance).

When Rehua mates with his wife Pekehawani (a star close to Antares) the ocean is windless and motionless.' Antares, visible in the morning sky of December-January, came to stand for summer heat; hence the saying, 'Rehua cooks (ripens) all fruit'. The generally accepted version of the Rehua myth, according to Best, is that Rehua had two wives, the stars on either side of Antares. One was Ruhi-te-rangi or Pekehawani, the personification of summer languor (ruhi), the other Whaka-onge-kai, She-who-makes-food-scarce before the new crops can be harvested ...

Evidently the C text was designed to end at Delta in Andromeda respectively at Porrima in Virgo:

344 (= 2 * 172)

This we can ascertain from my primary reading where Porrima (γ Virginis) suggests a path leading up (her right arm) towards the north and a beginning of a new cycle. The beginning of side a on the C tablet has Sirrah (α Andromedae) at 0h. From *191.5 (Porrima) to *0.5 (Sirrah) there were 6 * 29 = 174 (= 348 / 2) days.

At the same time (only 3 days later) and close to the Full Moon - which probably was of greater interest than the Sun on Easter Island outside the equatorial belt - the left arm of Andromeda reached down towards Pisces (at η Andromedae):

The Virgo Lady was pointing towards the north (which was up north of the equator), and the Andromeda Lady was pointing towards the south (= down north of the equator). However, on Easter Island the direction up meant in the south and down in the north, which might explain why Papa-tua-nuku had her face down. If Virgo corresponded to Papa, then her right arm would point in the direction south (= up).

... With the two axes, which were later brought by the Maoris from their far western homeland and used for 'felling' the tempests on some of their famous voyages, Tane severed the arms of his father Rangi. By the powerful incantations of another brother Tane raised Rangi high above the earth, where he still floats. Then Rangi lamented for his wife and his tears fell incessantly while Papa, with her youngest godling still at the breast, moaned and stormed at the cruelty of her sons. Clouds, mists, rain, frost, and driving snow enveloped earth and sky to the great discomfort of the gods. To remedy the situation they turned Papa over so that she faced the Underworld and could no longer look up at Rangi. Thus the youngest child grew up to manhood in the region beneath the earth and became the ruler of earthquakes and volcanic fires with which he still wages war on the upper world in revenge for the inhuman treatment of his parents ...

... Far away, the Mangaians of old (Austral Islands, Polynesia), who kept the precessional clock running instead of switching over to 'signs', claim that only at the evening of the solstitial days can spirits enter heaven, the inhabitants of the northern parts of the island at one solstice, the dwellers in the south at the other ...
