Once again. The glyph numbers as counted from the beginning of the texts carry information. Day 329 (November 25) = 265 + 64 = *185 + 80 + 8 * 8 = *185 + 12 * 12, and someone could possibly have interpreted day 329 also as day 300 + 29, meaning 10 * 30 = 300 days for the Sun and then 29 nights for King Fishing:

Such a King Fisher season could evidently have occurred twice, first at heliacal Sirius (in day 41) and then - for a 2nd time - at heliacal Antares. The distance from the first to the 2nd could be described as 12 * 12 = 144 days - or better as 144 + 183 = 327 days. 41 + 327 = 368:

Cb2-13 is glyph 429 and 429 equals 100 + 329. Probably this position was meant to be the sum of 100 days from the northern autumn equinox to the end of the year and then with a further 329 days in order to reach Antares.

HYADUM II AIN ANTARES

As to my dates here, we should first recollect that I have identified the Fish Hook in Ga2-11 with ºJune 30, when Sirius at the time of Gregory XIII rose with the Sun. Side a on the G tablet could therefore have been planned to be in parallel with the face value dates of the Gregorian calendar - with no effort whatsoever to change anything although the precession had pushed the stars ahead in the year since the time of the Pope. After all, the Sun now kept to his promised speed according to the calendar of the Pope.

... The sun then promised Maui, 'Let me go, and I will move more slowly, I will make longer days for your fishing'. Since that time, men have had longer days in which to go about their work ...

Next we should realize that the number of glyphs probably was used to reflect the number of right ascension days according to the Gregorian calendar. Therefore day 325 for ºNovember 21 (at Ga7-16, 185) could be alluding to the Julian 'March 25 (3-25, 84) for spring equinox as well as to the year for the Council of Niceae (325 AD).

When the Pope rearranged the day for spring equinox from number 84 ('March 25) to number 80 (ºMarch 21) the earlier Julian structure was buried, was covered up (puo). At the same time the Pope deliberately avoided to correct the flow of Julian calendar days for what he may have regarded as 4 unneccesary leap days prior to the Council of Niceae. Thus his balance sheet for days was in order. The day numbers counted from the equinox were increased with 4 and this was equal to allowing the 4 'unneccessary' leap days to remain in place.

But he had moved spring equinox to a position which was 4 days too early compared to the ancient model. And he had also broken the Julian connection between the Sun year and the Sirius year. The Julian year was precisely as long as the Sirius year, but the new Gregorian year was slightly shorter - due to fewer leap days - and no longer was Sirius going to stand still in the calendar, no longer would Sirius be a marvellous star; only the brightest, which however was no mystery because there had to be some star which was brightest.

There were 100 days from autumn equinox to the end of the year and then there were a further 80 winter nights to the spring equinox, not 12 weeks:

  autumn equinox   spring equinox
Julian day 265 + 184 = 449 = 365 + 84
Gregorian day 265 + 180 = 445 = 365 + 80

Therefore also the distance from spring equinox to summer solstice had to be changed:

spring equinox   summer solstice   autumn equinox
Julian 84 + 88 = 172 + 93 = 265 + 100
Gregorian 80 + 92 = 172 + 93 = 265 + 100

Counting from day 84 (Julian spring equinox) to day 364 there had been 280 days = 40 weeks (and not 284 days as when counting from 0h and the Gregorian calendar). Counting to autumn equinox there would have been 265 - 84 = 181 days = the distance from Aldebaran to Antares. But according to the Gregorian calendar there were 4 more, viz. 185 days.

However, for the C text I have suggested September 22 (265) could be connected with Ca1-2 (ki te hoea) - notice the similarity with the Fish Hook - and with a right ascension position not 265 - 80 = *185 days after 0h (March 21) but with *188 days after 0h:

Possibly puo in Ca1-5 was intended to illustrate the black cloth which would cover the world south of the equator when the Sun rose with Delta (δ) at the back side of Andromeda:

... When the man, Ulu, returned to his wife from his visit to the temple at Puueo, he said, 'I have heard the voice of the noble Mo'o, and he has told me that tonight, as soon as darkness draws over the sea and the fires of the volcano goddess, Pele, light the clouds over the crater of Mount Kilauea, the black cloth will cover my head. And when the breath has gone from my body and my spirit has departed to the realms of the dead, you are to bury my head carefully near our spring of running water. Plant my heart and entrails near the door of the house. My feet, legs, and arms, hide in the same manner. Then lie down upon the couch where the two of us have reposed so often, listen carefully throughout the night, and do not go forth before the sun has reddened the morning sky. If, in the silence of the night, you should hear noises as of falling leaves and flowers, and afterward as of heavy fruit dropping to the ground, you will know that my prayer has been granted: the life of our little boy will be saved.' And having said that, Ulu fell on his face and died ...
