1. There is a calendar for the week in the rongorongo text on the H tablet. When I once upon a time discovered it I became convinced it was just a matter of time before I would be able to decipher the rongorongo texts. Yes, it is a matter of time. This calendar for the week is definitely understandable, it is a calendar for the week. It is a 'Rosetta Stone':
Above I have amused myself with grouping the days according to the number of glyphs. 5 + 8 = 13 for Sun and Moon, they are a pair of course, like parents for the rest of the planets (by which term is meant celestial bodies which move against the background of the fixed stars, thus including Sun and Moon). 3 + 6 = 9 for Mars (who rules Tuesday) and Mercury (who rules Wednesday). In a way they are like twins with quite opposite qualities. Jupiter (Thursday) has 9 and is a special case. Venus (Friday) + Saturn will together amount to 3 + 8 = 11 ('eleven' means 'one more'). |
