If we now return to Mamari, filled with ideas from the excursions in Tahua, we immediately will notice how the 6 birds in the sequence from Ca10-1 (256) up to and including Ca12-8 (324) all have 'a tree with thumb' in front of them. And 324 - 256 = 64:
Aa3-65 could illustrate the disturbed winds caused by 'lopping off the head of Spring Sun'. No similar disturbance is noticed in the 6 redmarked C glyphs. 3 high 'trees' are ordered together with manu rere, 3 low ones with kara etahi:
The odd Ca11-18 probably refers to day 365, because 63 + 302 = 365:
Maybe one wing (kara etahi) indicates Spring Sun - the wing of kara etahi is always at left. The double wing variant (manu rere) would then, reasonably, be the Moon. 9 * 29.5 = 265.5, or 266 (Ca10-11) if we wish to use only natural numbers. 292 (Ca11-8) + 63 = 355, one more than 12 * 29.5. 274 (Ca10-19) does not fit this pattern. But 274 + 28 = 302 (Ca11-18). 302 + 18 = 320 (Ca12-4). And 274 + 18 = 292 = 266 + 26. Idle speculations. However, we should remember for future use:
Adding 10 to the ordinal numbers moves the planets 3 paces ahead. If Sun leaves already at midsummer (after having had his last drink of water), then his return in midwinter can be imagined as the time when he is reborn as a little child, and kara etahi could mean he cannot fly as yet. The 'tree' is low. The reversed kara etahi will then indicate when this sad state of affairs is over:
12 * 3 = 36 and 12 * 5 = 60 and then things are moving again. The 'fist' (full with fingers) is held high in front and inoino is high in the air and with promising mata in front. It is a day of Mars, the 'spring garment' of Sun. |
