SIGNS

Ca7-14:

At left there is hanging a hua, a sign for this night being Ohua. The form of the moon is not yet full, but not far from it.

The six marks on the hua ought to imply that it is the light of the sun which is creating this hua, number six indicating the sun.

The six marks are not located evenly all around the circumference of the hua. Had these marks been located all over the circumference it would have meant 'wrapped up' into a 'totora' mat, i.e. hidden away.

The form of this hua gives more information. In general shape it looks somewhat like a fish with head upwards, implying that the moon is still waxing. The body of the fish is like a rhomb, a sign for a lunar month.

Hb9-27:

This is a glyph which shows the boat of the moon oriented in the same way as the glyph for a night. But this glyph is thicker than the type of glyph which is used for indicating night. And then there is the triangle in the middle.

Its meaning is 'the time of full moon'. The apex of the triangle implies that there is a change in the phase of the moon. The waxing moon has ended and the waning moon is soon to start.

This is a time of a break in the order of things, a discontinuity, a time to take a break, make a feast.
