Possibly the pure glyph type is constructed from two bent henua, which together form an opening resembling a mouth. By implication a pure glyph would then probably illustrate a calendrical cycle. Investigating, in K, this thread of thought, it is found that isolated bent henua are not frequent. A few bent in one direction are located at the beginning of the text and a single one bent the other way is in the later half of the text:
