The more typical moa glyphs are not so obviously depicting creatures of 'Hiva':

 

The opening is at bottom left, at the tail. The characteristically open beak, on the other hand, has no opening in its contour line - the open beak probably illustrates how the sky roof is being lifted up from the earth. The open beak symbolizes how light is returning to our world.

Yet, the beak is open, it has an opening (a hole) at right (meaning in the future = west). Light (and life) will vanish again. What comes must sooner or later also go.
