7. The 'hull' of the GD13 'ship' is slim, usually not having the rather fat middle of the rei miro pectorals.

In the middle of the two wooden pectorals (we have seen) is incised a single thin crescent. However, the rongorongo writing system prescribes that in principle only contours should be drawn. Therefore the kind of moon crescent incised on the wooden pectorals cannot be incised inside the 'hull' of GD13 glyphs. On GD13 glyphs the sign of the moon is instead conveyed by the two appendages hanging down from the 'hull'.

The 'hulls' of GD13 glyphs tend to be rather slim in outline, while the pectorals in contrast need to be broader in order to make space for incised moon crescents.
